Darin Chappell is married to Carole Ann, his wife of twenty-three years, and they have three children together: Melissa, Sarah, and Clayton aged twenty-one, eighteen, and twelve respectively. Darin and his family live in southern Webster County, just east of Rogersville, and though he went to school for a bit in Marshfield, Darin counts the Rogersville area as his home and lives on part of the same horse farm where he spent most of his younger years.
Darin has had several life experiences that come together to make him uniquely qualified to serve as our representative of the 145th District:
- Darin teaches political science at Missouri State University, where his areas of specialty include American government, American federalism (the constitutional relationship between the national and State governments), and State sovereignty
- A minister for the last seventeen years, Darin also teaches at the Bible Institute of Missouri, where he focuses on Hebrew History, textual studies, logic, and formal debate
- As a business manager, Darin has come to understand the pressures and rewards that come with having to meet a payroll, budgeting for operation expenses, and making investments toward future growth goals. Having worked in the business community for more than twenty-five years, he understands all too well just how intrusive governmental controls can be
- Darin served honorably in our nation’s military, was twice promoted meritoriously, and received recognition for his efficiency and attention to duty in uniform
- Having worked in the past as a farrier, Darin is no stranger to hard work, and he is willing to put that same level of dedication to work for us in the Missouri House of Representatives!
Darin’s formal education includes a Masters Degree in Public Administration, with an emphasis on Public Management. He has worked at Missouri State in the Center for Social Sciences and Public Policy Research, and as Senior Analyst for the Missouri Local Government Program. Darin has lectured extensively on Public Budgeting and Finance and has taught Public Administration there at the university in Springfield.
Since one of his primary areas of study is regarding State sovereignty, it is no surprise that Darin has been active in the Tea Party movement from its very beginning. He has spoken at multiple tea parties around southern Missouri, and is already scheduled to speak at no less than five such events this coming year (2010)! Darin has been at the forefront of our struggles to maintain our rights, freedoms, and liberties, and as such, he is one of the State-level candidates, who has signed the Missouri Sovereignty Project’s pledge to protect us from a runaway national government.
